Security and Legality in a New Technological World

Trinidad and Tobago businesses have traveled a long road in order to compete in a market increasingly more extensive and globalized market. In recent years, millions have been invested to implement new technologies, to acquire sophisticated machinery and computer equipment, to establish extensive communications networks, and to have highly skilled human resources.

Why risk all this effort using pirated software, without warranty, downloaded from the Internet from an untrusty source, or obtained illegally?

The installation of pirated software represents real risks to the investment that companies make in technology, ranging from the possibility of getting infected by malicious software code (virus, Trojans, worms, etc), to data loss, corruption of your internal network and permanent harm to your IT systems.

The businesses that do not posses the original CDs of the software installed on their computer, end up with their employees wasting time while data problems are solved, compared to those similar businesses that use legal software.

Software downloaded from the Internet without license or authorization can infect your computer with malicious software code (virus, Trojans, worms, etc) causing data loss, corruption of your internal network and permanent harm to your IT systems. Likewise, it is a risk to install unlicensed software purchased on sale through Spam or massive mail since these programs can make computers more vulnerable.

Do not put on risk your business using pirated software

Based on the efforts that businesses in Trinidad and Tobago have made and with respect to their valuable investment in technology, the BSA has developed this legalization campaign with objectives to diminish the data loss caused by the use of pirated software, to promote respect for Interllectual Property Laws in the country, and to contribute to the development of the trade relationships within new markets.

The Campaign "Do not risk your business using pirated software" started on May 15th 2008, and will end in a period of time.

The companies interested in being part of this campaign, will have to (jointly with the BSA and through friendly mechanisms mutually agreed) reach the absolute legality of the software installed on their computers. BSA will provide to each one of them the instruments needed to legalize their software in the most comfortable and effective way possible.

BSA promises to advise and properly guide the companies on how to make all their software legal.

We are at your service if you need help making your inventory, and/or acquiring the missing licenses. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at the number especially dedicated to the object of this campaign, or you may also send us an e-mail at bsatt@softwarelegal.net.
